I am requesting the hospital conduct a full investigation into this incident
I am writing to file a formal complaint regarding the treatment I received during my visit to your hospital on June 20, 2026. I arrived at the hospital at 12:30 p.m. Despite being a cancer patient in significant pain, I was forced to wait in the hospital lobby for approximately 5½ hours before I was called. While we were waiting, I asked the person accompanying me to politely ask the staff member when my turn would come. She replied, “You are second in line. Unless there is an unexpected delay, you will be called soon.” About five minutes later, the same staff member became extremely aggressive and, in front of more than 50 patients and their family members in the lobby, shouted words to the effect of: “Don’t say another word. If anyone wants to complain, they can get the hell out of here.” I felt threatened, humiliated, and intimidated by this behavior. About thirty minutes later, I personally asked if I could speak with the supervisor or manager. The staff member first asked for my name. I respectfully replied that I would prefer to provide my name directly to the supervisor. She then spoke to me again in a threatening and disrespectful manner, telling me, “Sit down. If the supervisor comes, then you can tell them your problem.” At approximately 6:00 p.m., my name was finally called. I politely asked if I could first speak with the supervisor before going inside. The staff member responded by saying that if I did not go in immediately, I would lose my opportunity to be seen by the doctor. After waiting for more than five hours while suffering from pain, hunger, thirst, and exhaustion, I felt I had no choice but to accept. The doctors and nurses treated me professionally, and I appreciate their care. Later, a supervisor came to speak with me, but I felt that the explanations I received did not adequately address what had happened or the unacceptable conduct of the staff member. I finally left the hospital at approximately 8:30 p.m., after spending about eight hours there. My medication was changed, and I was discharged. Unfortunately, after returning home, I felt even worse because of the emotional distress I experienced. The incident has left me fearful of returning to your hospital. As a patient undergoing treatment for cancer, I deserve to be treated with dignity, compassion, and respect. Being threatened, humiliated, and forced to endure such treatment while seeking medical care is completely unacceptable. I respectfully request that the hospital conduct a full investigation into this incident, including reviewing the security camera footage and identifying the staff member involved. I also request that appropriate corrective action be taken and that I receive a written response regarding the outcome of your investigation. Thank you for your attention to this serious matter.

The hospital care has gone downhill
I used to recommend this hospital but throughout the years the hospital care has gone downhill now they just want you out of the ER. A family member was sent home after falling down and didn’t want to do any testing after constantly saying they was running out of air and the next day took another trip to the ER and oh they had fractured ribs

Predatory and expensive
Was sent to the ER by my primary - and for a CT scan and some blood work the bill was almost $11,000. Asked for an explanation of these outrageous charges and nobody can explain - I'm told "healthcare in America is expensive" and "it costs what it costs"

We will never go to this location for medical attention again
Wife was admitted to emergency room from urgent care for extremely high blood pressure and additional symptoms. When I approached the emergency desk for assistance to locate my wife there were four attendees. I was told I would have to wait to be escorted to where my wife was located. Three of the attendees were not assisting anyone. They were making one employee admit all emergency room patients. I spoke up and told them that they should help out and I shouldn't have to wait since three of them were not assisting patience. One attendee shouted for me to stand over there and wait. i again stated you should be helping admit so the other employee can escort me. She reluctantly began to assist after I refused to move from my location. Staff in the emergency room didn't even speak when entering my wife's room to assist her. No greeting no empathy at all. Noted: 0 people of color employed except for the janitor. Perhaps that tells the reason for the rude obnoxious behavior.

I ended up discharging myself
Most of the staff here are incredibly rude. The staff that checks you in at triage completely lack empathy and overall kindness. There is particular employee that takes the patients vitals that has stickers all over her hydroflask referring to people as idiots, etc.. that totally reflects her rude behavior towards people. This same employee for two hours boasted about calling out of undesired shifts, talked badly about her colleagues, as well as patients that were still in the waiting room. Once I was finally seen, I had a good experience with the nurse and doctor, but had a horrible experience with a surgeon. I didn’t catch his name, but he made me feel incredibly uncomfortable by trying to pressure me into getting a surgery that wasn’t even required for me to get. His exact words he told me was “get the surgery or go against medical advice and discharge yourself”. I followed up with my primary care who affirmed that the surgery was not necessary.

I would never use Sharp and I would never go to this hospital
DO NOT GO TO THIS EMERGENCY ROOM. If I could give 0 stars I would. My mom (75+), brought in by ambulance, waited over FIVE HOURS to see a doctor or get taken to a room/bay. She was in an incredible amount of pain and did not receive any care from anyone AT ALL for almost five hours!!!! Worst experience ever.

I will not recommend anybody getting Etc therapy
I was at Mesa Vista Hospital in October of 2022 and I was rushed to the main hospital. I had to call 911 for myself because after I came out of anesthesia from doing Etc therapy, they almost killed me and they sent there without trying to help me at all. So I had to call 911 to come get me from Mesa Vista to take me to the main hospital and they almost killed me there and my oxygen was at 70% and they going to ask me instead of trying to give me medical assistance. They got to ask me two days in a row. Am I going to sue them I'm not going to sue them and it wasn't important issue the issue was they need to focus on my life. I was fighting for my life.

$11,645.00 for 5 hour ER Visit for just an IV and something for my stomach
I can’t wrap my head around this. I went to the ER around a month ago, the personal overall was extremely rude, not even one of them showed that they cares about their patients, they treated me like if I was less than nobody, gave me an IV, did some lab work and then sent me home like nothing after 5 hrs there. For my surprise this week, a month later to be exactly, I received the bill from Sharp Memorial Hospital for a grand total of $11,645.00 for ER Visit… $11+ thousand dollars, keep in mind I didn’t need an ambulance, I wasn’t bleeding, I didn’t need extra care, just an IV because I was dehydrated and something for my stomach because I threw up, just that, and because of that 5hrs there SHARP MEMORIAL HOSPITAL is charging me more than $11 thousand dollars. Health system in California is broken.

Sharp memorial has been a nightmare
I really had to go in with a positive attitude for my last two back surgeries ( spinal fusion). My first one I got to pick grossmont sharp which was good. These are elective surgeries, so I would hope I am treated fairly since I'm paying for a $250k procedure. My surgeon (Dr kureshi) best surgeon in the world, only does them at memorial. So my last one was fine, no real issues, but this one they dumped me in recovery ( some basement area for 5.5 hours) I was awake at 2.30 from major surgery, and they would not follow the surgeons orders for pain management. They would not let me get up, which I'm supposed to do after this surgery. They gave me less than 1/4 of my daily pain meds the whole time I was in there forced to lay on my back, because they didn't have a room I already paid for it was 6 when they said they had a room, 7.30 when we left to go to my room. And then it was shift change so I gotta wait for any pain help. I would never ever ever recommend this hospital. You pay them but they don't care about you. I really hate this place I eventually went home 4 days later but still in more pain than I was in both of the other surgeries combined.

This emergency room and hospital is a complete joke
I'm very upset the way I was treated at your facility 12/05/2023 You treated me like I was crazy when I fell 6 ft at work and hit my head. Me being confused should be normal but instead you treat me like a psych patient because I have religious views and don't want foreign objects in my arm I was raised that way. Unless it's completely necessary to keep me alive then I don't need it. I had horrible anxiety throughout the entire stay and just wanted to leave. But instead of getting a cat scan for my head you people wanted to use me and my husband because we've amazing insurance federal actually. So you people ORDERED A CHEST X RAY AND EKG WHEN I DIDNT NEED EITHER OF THOSE. I don't want you to get a paid off of tests that aren't relevant to the issue at hand it seems like you're just using me and my money. Every person in there made me feel horrible because I was anxious and they judged grunted and laughed about it with co workers. I thought I'm supposed to trust you with my health especially after I've hit my head but instead your employees rather gloat and joke than actually help patients feel better and know their surroundings. I will be speaking with my lawyer once my injury heals up hope to hear what will be done about this matter.
