No patient should ever feel neglected or unsafe under your care
It’s deeply disappointing to have to write a review like this about a hospital I once trusted and respected. My intention is not to criticize unfairly, but to bring attention to serious lapses in patient care that should never happen. I had jaw surgery here on October 15th. This was actually my second surgery at this hospital—but unfortunately, the care I received after being admitted was very disappointing. The CNA assigned to my room repeatedly ignored my boyfriend’s calls for help when I needed to use the restroom. After several attempts, my boyfriend had to go find someone himself, which finally brought a nurse to the room. When the CNA eventually appeared, he admitted his phone had been off. What happened next was even worse. The nurse had me get out of bed and walk to the bathroom while I was still heavily medicated, dizzy, and nauseous. I could barely keep my eyes open and told her I felt sick, but she just kept saying, “Open your eyes!” I was on the verge of vomiting and could hardly stand. When I finally made it back to bed, I was completely disoriented. To make matters worse, the room was loud - an elderly patient next to me was gagging repeatedly, which made me even more nauseous. I felt terrible for her, but it was also unbearable for me. My boyfriend eventually begged staff to move me to another room so I could rest, and thankfully, they did. My other concern is the call button system. Each time I pressed it, whoever answered sounded irritated, as if I were bothering them. This happened several times, even though I only pressed the button when I truly needed help. Overall, the lack of compassion and attentiveness I experienced during my initial care was unacceptable. St. Joseph’s—patients deserve to be treated with respect, patience, and kindness, especially when they are recovering and vulnerable. We trust your staff to care for us as if we were their own family. Please do better.

Unprofessional staff
The complaints I have is some of the care workers that do the transport for MRI's or Xrays also the discharge worker Were impatient and would get annoyed and would show it I feel your choosing to work in a hospital with sick people then hide your negative facial expressions and Sighs. Sick patients in pain dont need to feel bad, they are going through enough already. Also the released my daughter prematurely when she couldnt even walk and was still in alot of pain.

Having a daughter that is a Lawyer is very handy in these situations
Horrible service, the Dr will push you out when you are having a difficult time due to his ego. What a jerk. I walked in having issues after a heart attack a few months ago and with a rapid heart beat and dizziness he does nothing to resolve it and only refills prescriptions that other Drs have already filled.

I seriously can't believe Providence treated their patients this way
I'm currently 6 months pregnant and was given 1 business day notice that Providence would no longer do business with my insurance provider, Aetna. Literally 1 day to scramble and find a new OBGYN, not to mention miss a critical check-up since I'm now entering my third trimester and had to cancel my upcoming appointment. Yes there is such thing as continuity of care, but that takes 30 days to review and I'm not about to rack up thousands of dollars in out-of-network expenses that I may or may not get reimbursed for, especially during the third trimester when more medical attention is required. 1 business day notice for something that greatly impacts my health, my baby's health, and my finances is not acceptable.

Mediocre at best
Got called back to sit in an exam room for one hour, a nurse comes in asks what going on and all those questions then says I’ll have some one come check you out, why didn’t you just do it right then. So waited another hour in the exam room for another nurse to come in and say “ can we bill your insurance” for what you guys have not done anything for me to have to pay.

Do not take very elderly patients with multiple co morbidities to St. Joe's
Took my 99 year old mother to ER as she was increasingly weaker and iffy swallow reflex, horrible diarrhea continued from c.diff. despite having started vancomycin. ER got her stabilized and gave her one transfusion, admitted for what the ER doctor called a tune-up. Next day, already told she should be in hospice; had to fight to continue c.diff. treatment, get TPN for nutrition, and get additional transfusion. Although admitted with a full medication list, no Lasix or heart meds provided; Lasix after 4 days and only one dose. Multiple new attendings and battle for treatment began again and again. Noticed chest xRay changed to showing mild pleural effusion, labs showed persistent body inflammation despite being on Flagyl, phlegm and some lesions in back of throat. Asked attending to look into it. He did not examine mouth and throat, just looked at list of her comorbidities and said it was not relevant, that we needed to respect the 99 and that everything comes to an end. Wanted her discharged to comfort care but finally agreed to a PICC line, thanks to intervention of palliative team. This from the same hospital who sent her home from ER 5 years ago, with heart and afib history, saying her confusion and unsteady sight was just something that happens to 94 yr olds. CTA ordered by her PCP next day showed severe stroke had occurred and my mom was cortically blind since.

Animals are treated better
Horrible nurses. Was checked in and the nurse grabbed my arm to take my blood pressure was talking loud as if I didn't speak English. Come here if you absolutely have to, otherwise just wait.

She was passing and was only trying to give her last wishes
It’s taken me some time to write a review because I needed to gather my thoughts. When a loved one is sick / dying it’s a very difficult situation and I’m aware staff members do this for a living so they become numb to it. My grandmother was passing away due to lung failure which required her to be on bipap machine and since she was elderly she could not have her dentures in her mouth making it very difficult to understand her when she did talk. During the time I was with her we witnessed a huge lack of sympathy for her. One doctor (last name ngo ) had absolutely horrible bed side manner. Nurses were hit or miss, always with different opinions and never on the same page with my grandmothers care. They never took the time to try and speak with her, would just come in check vitals and never stopped to ask if she needed anything unless we spoke for my grandmother. There were several times my grandmother was soiled because they never checked so we would request to get her changed immediately. At times the nurses would try to talk to certain family members to make us pull the plug because they “did all they could do” even when we would tell them to stop asking because as a family we hadn’t given up hope that she would pull through. We were very realistic to our circumstances but it was extremely pushy as if we she was a burden and taking up space. When we finally got to hospice they explained that she would be heavily medicated so she wouldn’t feel pain but instead a respiratory staff member came in not knowing her file changed her from a bipap machine to just normal air ( that’s like a fish out of water ) and my grandma immediately felt tremendous pain and since hospice doesn’t have enough staff we were watching her suffer for roughly 5-10 minutes until finally they came in to help us. A family member passing is never easy, but there was a lot of nonsense that we dealt with at this hospital. There was even a time when a nurse was being rude because my grandma was trying to talk to us and they didn’t want her talking and I asked, do you even know my grandmothers name ? She was passing and was only trying to give her last wishes. Just completely unprofessional and down right wrong . Providence and St Joseph, do better.

They are unprofessional, gross, and make you feel very unsafe
The only sweet nurse was the Asian nurse; she was a short and young nurse who works in the front station. She went above and beyond for me. The PA Kelly Markle (the lady with blue eyes and wrinkles on her forehead and face) should not be allowed to work on anyone; she is rude, and you can tell she hates her job, only there for the money. Also, the X-RAY tech for the chest, the old woman with blue eyes, made me feel unsafe. I didn't feel safe in either one's care. They denied me liquid medicine, although I told them I couldn't swallow pills. They said I'm too old for liquid, which confuses me—how can you force someone to swallow a pill when they simply cannot?

If u need emergent care go anywhere but here!
This place definitely isn't a good option for good patient care. I went in there sick for emergent care and tested positive for covid. I was denied paxlovid by the doctor. He made an excuse stating this med would be bad on my kidney and didn't recommend I take it to address covid I am underline asthmatic and already a Long covid sufferer. He jeopardized my health my life and I am very unsatisfied with the attention I received! This group is prepared to kill of there patients!!!
