A simple surgery turned into a 6 month night mare
Dr Heinssman is the worst doctor. He almost killed my aunt. During a surgery he punctured organs, snipped areas that wasn’t supposed to be snipped. Causing her to have to get a ostomy bag. All this after an appendix surgery. After going under the care of another doctor and a ct scan was done it was alarming! We are planning to sue! DO NOT GO HERE! THEY ARE TERRIBLE

I know my Aunt didn't ask you to protect her from calls from her family
The insist on elderly patients setting 4 digit pin numbers, that keep families away from their elderly family members..Needs to know what they hiding they need this? I live in Florida we don't block family from their elderly. If the patient don't request it we don't set it.

Didn’t change her sheets, empty her pot and room didn’t smell cleaned
My aunt is currently here and I am not satisfied with the housekeeping at all!! I immediately smelled urine as I arrived on 2nd floor throughout the hallways and have also smelled poop as well. She has been using her bedside commode and has to ask for it to be emptied every time. The nurse has been doing it instead of housekeeping but bc it hasn’t been properly cleaned it has a lingering urine odor! The day I was there when housekeeping came the lady mopped the floor before sweeping then swept afterwards. It’s unsanitary to not clean properly and no patient should have to ask for services when people are hired to do that job!

I personally do not like the way psychiatric patients are treated here
None at all I feel like this hospital needs to be looked into too many fishy stuff going on here my husband was admitted into psych unit and he came here for meds change but they gave him the wrong meds and it caused him to have an allergic reaction which is not good cause they should of read his chart before assisting him,

ABSOLUTE MOST UNPROFESSIONAL,UNEDUCATED STAFF
Had emergency stomach surgery July 23,2025.Was to recover 2 weeks n have second surgery.Noone called me,so I called the admitting dr,Dr who signed my RX,released me is not in their database.I called his office n his phone is disconnected.Talked to customer service mgr,Maria after 20 other attempts for help she qoute"told me I would have to locate the ghost Dr David Marks.I also asked for her supervisor n she told me she didnt have one?She runs all customer affairs, silly. The operators will routinely send you to ext with no name associated to it n literally 10 digit ext number, obviously an empty office or cubicle. They refuse to give me the name of the surgeon who did my first n was planned for 2nd surgery.A lady in scheduling wouldn't transfer me to another depot without me signing a release saying I wouldnt blame her if it wasn't the right dept,im on the phone live 100 miles away.So I'm 2 weeks past date they wanted to do second surgery, the Dr on all my paperwork they claim is not a Dr there, looked up his office his picture is the same uab dr,his phones are d/c n UAB CUSTOMER CARE SUPERVISOR,who has no supervisor herself told me I had to find the missing dr.I asked her to just assign me another internist,Dr he could read my chart n get me in but they refused that idea.I have 2 insurances who I'm sure have pd 30/40K already.

100% do not recommend
Nurses have no bed side manner and lack any ounce of care. Putting UAB's name on this location does not help a thing.

I need to to someone in corporate before talking to a lawyer
Had an grandmal seizure I told them I was epileptic before. I rember hitting my head before I blocked out woke up to a lady trying to make me walk I didn't even know where I was she yelled at me and told me to talk and when I didnt she very harshly rubbed my chest really hard. I understand you have to do that to keep people awake but not the way she did. Then she said well if you talk to me you wouldn't of had that problem. When I said I had a head ache the guy said problaly because you bumped your head outside of the hospital. He lied.

After FOUR terrible experiences here I am leaving a review
I will never return to this sorry excuse for a hospital. I will share our last 2 experiences... my father-in-law was admitted after sitting in the ER for 7 hours, and that was with a call ahead from a pulmonary dr. He ended up staying a week. They call my husband saying he is being released. He makes the hour drive from our home, when he arrives they said "no, he's staying another night." He then comes back home, as soon as he gets in the house, they call back, telling him to come back, he's being released. Total incompetence. The last experience was yesterday. We were told to arrive at same day services at 5:30 am to have a drainage tube removed from his lung. We arrive at 5, he gets admitted, prepped and put in a holding room. Someone came in and spoke to us at 6:20 am, not another soul came back for FOUR AND HALF HOURS! No nurse, nobody! Nobody spoke or checked in or kept us informed or anything! Wasn't offered a drink, or told there's vending, was told absolutely NOTHING. Did i mention it was FOUR AND A HALF HOURS!?! Eventually found out the surgeon (Dr. Witcher) had scheduled a HEART surgery before my father-in-law's simple procedure that took only minutes! Why!?? I understand things happen that you can't control in surgery, but why schedule it the way he did, and why didn't SOMEBODY just stick their head inside that curtain and check on us for that long period of time? Zero empathy from all the nurses yesterday. Don't know why they're nurses if they don't actually care about others wellbeing. We got home a 3 and all they fed him afterwards was a couple of Graham crackers and water. He is a diabetic.

Seems like we're just a paycheck!
We've been here since 1/12/24 because my grandmothers bowel was blocked and they have done nothing. She's in agonizing pain, we were told if the problem didn't get better in 2 days she would have to have surgery. That was 5 days ago. Don't bring your loved one's here. Nurses here don't work as a team. The Doctor is no help.
