Cape fear valley is one of my top 5 reasons I have to get the hell out of Fayetteville
You could quite literally die waiting in their ER room to be seen. And I’d be surprised as hell if they came & helped even then!! Seriously.

You are the biggest hospital in this town but you are the worst
I get that it's a big hospital but at some point you have to realize that it is completely not okay that it takes so long to be seen. At some point you are going to have to get a better system and more employees. Those dollars that you get on a daily basis needs to be put to getting a better ER system to where the people aren't sitting in that waiting room for twelve hours. I am surprised that people do not die on a daily basis in that waiting room.

Nurse loudly complains in the hallway about patients
The Nurse from the 6th floor should not be in this profession. Instead of focusing on patient care, she loudly complains in the hallway about patients and saying they are “calling her every 5 minutes.” When we told her my family member was very short of breath, she threw her hands up and said, “I don’t know what else to do.” Only after we suggested oxygen did she finally provide it; which immediately relieved my family member’s symptoms.

I’ve never experienced a hospital with such disregard for patients
I came to this hospital multiple times in severe pain, searching for help and answers. Each time, I was dismissed, ignored, or rushed out. The nurse was especially unprofessional and cold. She asked what was wrong like I was bothering her, then had me walk to imaging - even though I clearly came in for pain that worsens when I walk. She offered medication but shut the door in my face before I could even finish my response. I asked the doctor for a CT scan because I had bladder issues, back pain, and ongoing discomfort, but he insisted on doing an X-ray, which had nothing to do with my symptoms. Every time I tried to speak, he walked away. The other times I was there left due to long waits, not treatment. If you’re truly in pain and need answers, this is not the hospital to go to. You will wait for hours, be judged, talked about, and treated like an inconvenience. I expected better - especially as someone new to the area. No one deserves to be treated this way when they come in for help. I hope this review encourages leadership to reflect and improve their care - because patients do remember how you made them feel.

$1500 for a 2 hour ER stay no IV
7 yo child had dehydration issues. UNC and Duke said go to hospital. I stayed up being a nurse for my kid, i couldn’t make the 60 mile drive. So unfortunately I went to cape fear. Long story short they gave her one nausea pill $120, a water and a popsicle. No iv. Kids don’t get iv doctor says. Rosie the robot, ie the jetsons cartoon, lady from billing comes in and forces you to pay all of your bill. $1500 for a 2 hour stay no lunch gave me the script for the same nausea pill and it was $10 for 15 at Walgreens across the street from cape fear at. Wrote and talk to patient relations and they said it was appropriate. Nothing about this was appropriate. It’s highway robbery and the kid was still sick. This hospital treats all people like meth zombies in the dystopian apocalypse. This hospital makes me think, is this how I die or my family will die today? Beyond disappointing. I guess when they say they are the best, they meant like pizza. Because they are not. Like truly I wished I manned up and drove to Duke. And they won’t adjust the price of the pill or the stay

If you plan to go to this ER plan it as if it is a long camping trip
If you plan to go to this emergency room you better not have an emergency. Plan it as if it is a camping trip. Bring food, water, and a sleeping bag.

It is my intention to involve every government agency
At this very moment, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center has an over 80 year old patient (who forward will be referred to as PT) who cannot speak English and they claim that their translation line does not have PT's language. Meanwhile, because of PT's inability to communicate nor understand what is going on, PT has been posey or torso restrained. He has terrible bruises that he did not have on arrival and he has been left alone by staff while restrained. Upon family, (medical POA) requested for medical information, the nurse informed family they had just come on duty at what should have been midway through nurse's shift. DNR does not and should not mean DIE! Get it together because come Monday it is my intention to involve every government agency that I can involve and an attorney that I shall retain for this family.

After the reviews I’m on high alert
I have a family member there right now. Another relative is there with him and we are not pleased with the care he is receiving. There seems to be no sense of urgency. Delays in care, often result in POOR patient outcomes. As it stands, he’s getting progressively WORSE!

Called Cape Fear for a reason
I gave birth and went to the ER about 6 weeks postpartum, and they would not let me pump in the ER or see my baby during my entire hospital stay. I had a 6 day stay in the hospital with multiple procedures and recovery days before being discharged. The nurses on the GI floor told me I could have adult visitors, but I couldn't bring my 6 week old newborn up for a couple visits? Even the Drs reassured me I'd get to see my baby, and understood the importance of not being away from your baby for long while that young. There was not only physical pain from not being able to pump for over 24 hours, and very sparingly in-between procedures and rest, but there was so much emotional pain from being separated from my newborn for nearly a week after hearing the Drs reassure that I would be given time with my baby in-between procedures.

Security are ridiculously rude @ssh0les!
I would never willingly visit this hospital. My child was brought here following a car accident.. the front desk security and the emergency security were both ridiculously rude @ssh0les! I don’t care about not one protocol for anything when it comes to my child. And then to tell me I can’t go back to see her because the space is too small or because there’s a restriction and then get an attitude when I question that.. you really need to evaluate the company you use for this service, they are TRASH!
