Horrible Horrible Horrible
When my family mrmber is admitted and held in ER because oxygen saturation keeps dropping below 90 and comes in complaining of sweating shortness of breath low oxygen at home and the alarms going off all night in ER why did they not bother to put oxygen on him for comfort and safety of health. Then he goes to floor still no oxygen i had to call a few times for them to finally give it to him. Dr orders cpap machine for sleep apnea finally we're thinking on the right path respiratory therapist comes in and says "what's this, oh you don't need it you're on oxygen". Omg really oxygen is for the daytime cpap is for sleep apnea and is used even sleeping so the right type of air is being received the right way. Discharged home same way meds never called into his pharmacy never saw case management sent home with no scripts for cpap machine or oxygen even as needed nothing will NEVER go back to any HCA facilities because they are all the same trust me I've been through this enough with both my parents now my brother now I see why he wanted to AMA they weren't doing anything to help him there. Much education needed. Horrible and disappointing dont even get me started what they did to my father a year ago just thought maybe the care would be better this time NEVER AGAIN!!!!!

We feel if we went elsewhere he would still be with us today
My brother suffered a cardiac arrest. This hospital let him seize for almost 44 hours before getting his seizing under control. The neurologist didn’t even visit him until after the seizures were under control which was about 48 hours after he arrived. We begged 30 hours in to have him transferred to a trauma center. We feel if he received proper care immediately he would still be with us today. If you’re loved one suffers something severe, take them to a trauma hospital, not Oakhill.

Every "old" person isn't ready to expire just because you failed at your job
If you’re an elderly person go elsewhere. My dad went in with double pneumonia & upper intestinal blockage. He was old but not dead. The doctors basically threw in the towel from the beginning of his stay, because he's old as they repeatedly pointed out. They moved him from ICU under protest & put him in PCU with no full time monitors allowing his o2 & blood pressure to drop to dangerous levels destroying his kidneys. They were almost immediately ready to stop dialisis & place in hospice again under protest making us feel like we were causing suffering. The final straw was as he finally passed on his birthday in the hospitals Hospice floor on September 13th we were told we could sit with him until we signed some papers. As we sat in the room for approximately 2 hrs a hospice worker entered trying to talk us into an facility down the road. Asked while dad was laying there already deceased for 2 hours if we, the family, had toured the facility as it was really very nice. At that point I realized although looking over at him several times she had no idea dad was already gone. I looked at her & said, "You Do Realize He's Already Passed!" She loudly said, Oh My God I'm so sorry & stormed out of the room, not realizing he'd passed. Although our stay was mainly a nightmare from one nurse on his 1st night stay in PCU whom was so busy watching Raiders of The Lost Ark on her cell phone with ear buds so she wasn't disturbed. If only he wasn't old!! Ridiculous statement for a man that walked fine 2 weeks before going in the care of Oak Hill hospital

Sadly, I cannot recommend them and would urge you to find another
My 92 year old mother was admitted for a 3 night stay (8/10/23-8/13/23) to HCA Oak Hill Hospital in Brooksville, Florida. Upon discharge, we had the option of either putting her in Hospice care or a rehab facility. After several reassurances from the case manager that Medicare will be paying for the rehab, we opted to put her in Oak Hill Health and Rehab in Brooksville. My mom stayed in rehab for about 2 months then was admitted to hospice care. Months later, much to our surprise, we received a bill from Oak Hill Health and Rehab for ~$20,000. On 3/5/24 we received a call from Haley from Oak Hill Health and Rehab business department, stating that Medicare denied the claim because the hospital had designated the first night as “observation” and therefore it did not count as a hospital night stay. Since the original documentation they received from the hospital, before my mom was admitted, stated a 3 night stay, she told us the hospital only had to amend the word observation and Medicare would pay. I had asked multiple times when my mother was admitted if everything was in order for Medicare to cover it, and they said yes. It is the obligation of both the hospital and the rehab facility to advocate for patient rights and be transparent with billing, yet we were led to believe this would be covered in full by Medicare. Now, they are expecting us to pay ~$20,000 out of pocket that we do not have.
