Dangerous & a form of Malpractice
Would never return back to Summerlin hospital ER. Was diagnosed with pneumonia on paperwork even though Dr Sproles said I didn’t have pneumonia. When discharged I was given general antibiotics and was awaiting blood cultures results that would be back within 2-3 days under the impression they would call me with results. After 3 days of no results and not getting better (barely being able to breathe, severely sick) , i went through hospital paperwork & discovered then advising me to follow up with two listed doctors- my Obgyn & another listed doctor. Mind you I was never told to do this but rather led to believe they would follow up with me with blood culture results to determine appropriate antibiotics treatment. I tried to follow up with the primary care doctor they advised in paperwork but that doctor is no longer working as a primary doctor or my Obgyn (being recently postpartum) who will not give me results or prescribe appropriate medication. When contacting medical records department they said they wouldn’t see my results either so even if I returned to ER they couldn’t do anything for me. Not only is this extremely unprofessional, it’s actually dangerous& a form of malpractice.

What kind of rip-off or incompetence is this?
I broke my ankle in Canada and scheduled an appointment with a podiatrist at SHMC to have my broken ankle looked at 3 weeks later. The doctor touched my ankle, talked to me for 5 minutes and had a nurse put on a "compression sock". I put on my walking boot and I left on my crutches. Both which I already paid for in Canada. About 2 weeks later, I get 2 bills. One for the doctor, for about $300, which was covered by insurance. The other for $2,234 for "medical care", from 10/29-10/31, which looks like I was admitted to the hospital. Which I was not. The balance due was $250, which is the copay for a hospital visit. I am currently disputing this charge. How is a quick check up with a doctor, cost $250 in co-pay with insurance? How does any one afford to get care in Vegas?

It was a horrible delivery experience
I delivered my baby here on Thanksgiving Day. As soon as arrived at the hospital I asked for the epidural. I was already 4cm dialated and I was not able to get it until almost 2 1/2 hrs later when I was already 8cm dialated. According to the Nurse there was only one Anesthesiologist on the floor that morning which was doing a C-section at the time. Something you dont want to hear when you are in active labor and in excrutiating pain. The Anesthesiologist was rude, didn’t introduce himself or explain the procedure. He poked my back twice and didn’t even notify me. He lacked empathy and bedside manners.

I ask to be discharged
From a patients perspective, some of the nurses were terrible. The IV tech had my blood all over my hand and the floor with vein injection. I had a huge lump after I removal for 3 days. I was worried about blood clot (s). But, in consideration of how large my veins are, I understand. But Nurse Savvy, she asked me if I have male anatomy. I asked her why would she ask me that. She looked over at the male urine container that I used to urinate in. I then informed her that I had been holding my urine for over 2 hours. I had to pee. I then showed her that I know my body by showing her how I used the container and that I do not have any male anatomy. I also urinated in the urine collection container, which they never analized. It was thrown into trash. I felt very small and uncomfortable. I never kissed and/or thought of being with a woman in my life. I believe in God's way and his grace. I am very straight. Then I was informed that I have to be completely naked for the MRI I was to receive. I am very uncomfortable with showing my body to a person that I have to look at continuously. I was embarrassed enough by being there and asked an ignorant, uncalled for, and unprofessional question of such nature. I'm old school. Although I am very picky, I love men. I would like to file a complaint against nurse Savvy. She was very wreckless and very unthoughtful. If that curious, she could have approached me in a joking/sense of humor manner, curious manner, etc... But to flat out ask me if I have male anatomy. I was very confused, shocked and ready to leave at that point.

They’ll destroy your credit and financial well being for simple medical attention
Being new to Las Vegas , I developed a serious tooth infection and had to visit the ER at Summerlin hospital because I had such severe pain. They gave me a small prescription of very mild amoxicillin which wouldn’t have been strong enough to fix the infection so I had to seek another source, but I received a single tablet that evening of 125 MG amoxicillin. I gave them my insurance card and recently received a bill. They charged me $388 dollars for that single tablet, over 4 thousand for the visit itself which was only 2 minutes of a doctor speaking to me and looking at my tooth. NO OTHER SERVICES. They charged so much money, my insurance covered the majority but the hospital billing team added a 2k bill to me personally for it being out of state coverage. This hospital grossly over charges patients and now I’ll be forced to battle with them because of that blatant greed. It’s beyond me how these companies can get away with extreme over pricing as if it’s normal or ok. I do not recommend visiting summerlin if you need emergency medical attention.

I was told that if I don't pay for my surgery up front there will be no surgery
Awful. Feel threatened for my health. Not sitting well with me. Very upset and stressed out about this procedure I had to go through especially a day before my surgery.

Do NOT leave your loved one in the care of this corporation
They are in the business of making money not helping patients. They are understaffed and untrained and unaccountable for their frequent mistakes. Watch over your loved ones and ask questions to keep this place from putting their lives in danger! * response to the business’ comment: You know that I have already filled a complaint and have already spoken to every department. If you are actually unaware of this then that is illustrative of the lack of communication that causes dangerous mistakes. My thought is that you wrote this response to appear caring and proactive when that could not be further from the truth.
