Banner is not running an efficient or caring institution
Significant other was told 2 different times to go to the ER to receive medical testing stat for her cancer. The first stat visit began with a 12 hour wait in the ER waiting room and another 3 hour wait in the treatment hallway..waiting for treatment and then spent 3 days admitted to the hospital waiting for MRI results...I would call this very much less than adequate care and time frame The oncologist called her at home and another stat visit was suggested..this time for another MRI and spinal tap. After another long wait..from Friday afternoon to Monday morning waiting for a spinal tap and as of today being Tuesday waiting for results and follow up from the doctors....again this is less than adequate....patients deserve better

They just want money. They don’t care about you
I went in because I was directed here by Southern Arizona Center Against Sexual Assault. I was told that under the SAKI program I would not have to pay for the SAFE testing done. I had to wait four hours in a room by myself and I only spoke to two sexual assault representatives briefly. I peed in a cup and it was left on the counter for hours. Then someone from Banner came in and told me I needed to pay them $800. I was exhausted and confused and I signed the document but I hadn’t even received any form of care or testing at that point. I was advised by a family member to just leave the facility, because I literally cannot afford that and I was told I wouldn’t have to pay or at least it would be covered in some form. Nothing about the costs was explained to me, I was completely blind sighted. I’ve never felt so let down and abandoned. That was my last hope to get proof of what happened to me and it’s gone. Never go here for help.

All in all it was a horrific experience and not one Id care to repeat
Having worked as an ICU RN for 25 years, i was extremely disappointed in Banner. I was seen by several different teams for my fractured pelvis and sacrum. Each team told me something different. After multiple CT scans were completed I didn’t see a dr again to get information or results or a plan for over 24 hours. Over that 24 hours i was given one pain pill to enable me to be moved to the CT scan table. When i requested pain medication after some 12 hours, i was given a lidocaine patch. There were some excellent nurses, who were empathetic and did their best to advocate for me, but i didnt get a sense of good communication between physicians and nursing. There also though were a couple of lemons in that bunch. When i told one tech that i was wet, she felt around by my feet and insisted i wasn’t. When i was transferred to northwest transitions after a couple of days, i was soaked.

Emergency room is simply your cage
Emergency room is simply you get there you sit on a chair for 7 hours than you get called back and get put in another chair for 7 more hours it's the new cage. When you have a question you get ignored

Show some compassion
I followed my friend to banner main after we called 911. I was separated from her since she was transported by ambulance. I was delayed at the entrance checking in and was confronted by security who threatened to take my phone and arrest me. It took over 20 minutes for me to find her. I then had an argument with four security staff who came into her e.r. threatened to take my phone, arrest me for make videos and remove me from the property. I was just trying to find my injured roommate and get to her as quickly as possible. terrible check in process. rude. security on a power trip. I did not record anyone except myself. When people have emergencies with their loved ones they need compassion not conflict.

I was put in a chair and I could not sit in a chair after surgery
Worst experience of my entire life. Was stuck in a hallway for 15 hours before I was given an er room that was still a chair. Almost sent home ended up needing immediate surgery. Then returned to the hospital next day by ambulance after receiving iv fentanyl by the paramedics and they told me they did not have anywhere for me and I was put outside to wait as there was no room after I was given fentanyl. By law this is neglect and I need to be monitored after receiving this kind of medication. Nor even triaged for at least an hour. In Severe pain to say the least. Was told there were traumas coming in and were too busy and I told them I saw all the ambulances when I came in with them. Still nerve for a bed once I was in after I had a surgery. I was in a chair and I could not sit in a chair after surgery like that. I begged them for a bed or something and not to mention pain meds for hours. It just continued after this. WORST HOSPITAL EVER

Absolutely ridiculous patient family interaction
My mom has been in the neuro icu for a week and a half and we are 1800 miles away. Multiple people in our family have called multiple times a day and have asked the drs and different teams for daily updates and we still do not get updates. My mom has neuro surgery last Friday and the surgeon said he would call and update us and never did. I still only hear from nurses that can only tell us so much and at this point it's making them seem extremely incompetent with their patient family interaction. If someone had surgery and family there waiting in the waiting room they would be informed/updated instantly and we still haven't for 5 days.

Expect to have to wait 12 hours before going home
Even if you come in the ambulance you will be sitter in the waiting room. They will check in people that come after you, this is not first come first served. Also putting patients in regular chairs because they have no beds available.. when half those patients are having extreme pain in the back or abdomin. A hospital is meant for you to get better and rest. They do not care if you’re comfortable or not!

I’ll say this once and say this loud for the CEO in the back.
Banner has stopped me from getting needed healthcare so many times in the past year I’m actually about to lose it. “DEPENDENTS ARE NOT VISITORS” No, sorry head nurse, but my one day old isn’t a visitor, she literally depends on me right now to live. I’m not leaving her with a neighbor so I can get a blood patch that I wouldn’t have needed if you hadn’t made me get an epidural I didn’t want. No, sorry banner OBGYN, my six month old isn’t a visitor assisting me getting my ovarian tumor scanned. I understand we could get better images without her there, but instead we are getting NO images since you won’t let me bring her. No, sorry banner, my two year old isn’t a visitor with me to the ER. I’d love to not be having a miscarriage, passing pieces of my uterus and wanted baby out my vagina right now as I profusely bleed out but I need help and your policies are stopping me. No sorry, my toddler isn’t a visitor when my husbands in so much pain he is slurring words and entire arms have gone numb. You can’t get a health history from a passed out patient. Your policies are hurting people. You are stonewalling people out under the guise of protecting people but we all know you just don’t want visitors. These were not the policies prior to 2020. I don’t trust you, I want to make sure you aren’t doing things you aren’t suppose to. Like giving an episiotomy with no consent. Like giving my baby formula without asking. Like forcing my husband who can’t even feel his hands or talk to be alone. Before we were even able to get any treatment done they asked for payment up front and in full and if we didn’t we would have to apply for a hospital loan. I’ll be going to St Joes from now on.

This isn’t my first time having a bad experience here.
If I could give zero stars I would. I got taken to the ER due to a car accident and was here for 5 hours just to tell me nothing was wrong with me. Turns out I had a fractured ankle, torn ligaments in my ankle/leg, pinched nerves in my neck and a concussion. My mom had to go searching through the hospital to find me a wheelchair because they assumed I was just going to walk out of there. I also had to ASK for paper pants because my ankle was too swollen for my skinny jeans. My friend also injured was initially discharged but due to the fact that she was limping through the halls, they told her she had to check back in because it would be a liability to let her walk out without crutches. Turns out her doctor was trying to go home.
