NO ONE WILL LISTEN OR APOLOGIZE
0 Stars if possible! What a nightmare experience for my mother and only made worse by leadership and management that refuses to take any ownership or even listen. Some details so there is no question. It took 1 hour and 12 Minutes for my mother to be moved from 5S to 6N....why so long you may think, because after getting her close the transporter left her alone in a dark room and said "someone will come get you in a while." She is 100% immobile with a broken knee and spine. After waiting for while she called me confused and upset. She had no idea where she was and could only guess a dark hallway somewhere. No one was coming for her and it had been over an hour since she left the other side of the hospital. I called the hospital operator and got the house supervisor who after telling me she was still in her old room, finally called someone else. Then a nurse showed up and immediately said "we got a call from your son, we are sorry we hadn't got to you." No one was checking her into the new room or even know where she was. The transporter left here in a dark room with no information and went home since it was 7:00. No one will call me back, no one can explain why she was left alone, no one will talk to me a day later, No one can explain the 72 minute time to move rooms, no one will provide a policy or SOP for the transfer of a patient and hand off to another person.

Nurse in ED lied to security saying I had cursed her
I told her I wanted to speak with the nurse supervisor and she said I could not. I told her I was going to get my phone. Tried to go back in to my sick friend and security said I could not go back in. Unbelievable. They just sent my sick friend back home and she can't even see. She can't even dial a phone number on her phone. How can they discharge her back home like this?

Not happy at all
My whole experience was poor. Some of the nurses were good but a lot were not. I got moved to the old part of the hospital and it was horrible. When I got food I never got to choose what I wanted. Food was cold, for breakfast I got horrible oatmeal and a green banana. I was just left sitting in my room. TV didn't work.

My experience was horrible
I arrived by ambulance at 11am on Friday 07-25-2025 I was transported from work due to a slow heart. Once arrived, there rnedwere no wheel chairs, I had to walk to each destination. I asked for a blanket because emergency was cold and I was informed they will only give me a blanket once I make it to a er room. I watched 3 shifts come and go and yet my name was never called. At 11;30 pm, the lights in the er waiting room were turnef off, as if to say ....go to sleep. We. Received several updates that trama patients were being flown in and by ambulance therefore they would come first. I understand that.....but all night long and all day??!!! Finally at 3am I asked for the Ic to be removed and I left. This may be a great hospital, but the emergency room experience is horrible. This department needs help in all areas.

Please stray away from this hospital!
On March 25, 2025, I was rushed to this hospital in critical condition from being shot 7 times by a road rage driver. I was stable by the following evening. The arrival time was early morning hours at around 1:15 am. During my stay at this hospital my pain management was severely mishandled! It was so crazy that they even mixed up my treatment plan with someone else! They attempted to give me Tylenol and muscle relaxers one night and the level of pain was not only excruciatingly intolerable, but the nurse was adding insult to injury by not taking my concern about the medication mixup seriously. Replying with “Do you want the Tylenol or not!?!” It only changed because I called my sister to speak with the doctor about it. Several weeks later and my pain management is still severely lacking in both relief and response to the very same complaints! I was given 5 mg of oxcy and told to take them sparingly. I have a femoral artery injury where the majority of my right leg had to be repaired by vascular surgery. The pain management is now just hydrocodone and 100 mgs of gabapentin. Both are doing nothing to alleviate my pain and are making physical therapy, rest and recovery intensely more difficult than it should actually be. My right foot feels numb, I can barely stand anymore, and they aren’t responding to my calls. It’s more hurtful than helpful. I’m going for a second opinion at mercy care. I hope this helps you choose a quality provider. They weren’t my choice, they just happened to be what’s known in the local medical community as “The gunshot hospital"

Please ask for assistance 30 minutes prior and be prepared for several excuses
Most of 5 NORTH nursing crew is on the phone or laughing and dancing at the nursing station. I feel sorry for anyone who's non verbal. My mother was alert and verbal and she still got horrible care. She was left incontinent for hours. I called the nursing station to inform them she was completely soaked in urine. After 10 minutes of waiting and an emotional ouburst someone from housekeeping found help. I was given one towel and one wash cloth for a complete bed change.

Discharged us with so many bad complications
My mother had a complicated surgery on her neck Dec 2, 2024. After the surgery, my mother had complications with her pain control. Her pain stayed at an 8, 9, or 10 the entire time. The team of doctors that do rounds in the morning kept dismissing my concerns. My mother was in extreme pain, constipated for days, abdominal pain, she wasn’t able to pee so she got drained by straight catheter 1-3 times a day, she started running a temperature, her legs started to swell( even though I asked them to put on the compression cups around her legs immediately after surgery),her oxygen level kept dipping in the low 80’s(they had her on oxygen), and she was so unstable with her legs that she was on a high fall risk and on a bed alarm. ALL of these issues and they kept trying to release her!! I questioned the medical staff about her being released with several issues and voiced my concern about leaving the hospital and then having to return to the ER within 24 hours because of all the complications. THEY RELEASED HER! I took her home and cared for her myself. I felt like my concerns were just getting brushed aside. Very disappointed with the hospital after the surgery was over and we got admitted to the floor even more disappointed with discharging us with so many bad complications.

My fiancée suffered for 10 hours in your ER before he passed away
Shame on you SSM SLU emergency department. This hospital er is the worse. I brought my fiancée here on dec 2nd he had a history of liver disease. He was in bad shape to say the least. And they wouldn’t let me stay with him in the er because they were crowded. I get that this is a trauma center and that they do get over crowded. But he suffered in that waiting room for 10 hours waiting to be seen while I had to wait in my car in frigid temperatures. He ended up in icu for 11 days before he passed away. Hurts my heart that he had to endure that at the end of his life. You have to do better.
