I had a very disappointing experience with the billing practices
I went to the ER around 8 p.m. for an allergic reaction and was told to go home and take an antihistamine. However, I waited several hours for discharge paperwork and was finally released after midnight—then billed for an overnight stay, which doubled my charges. Despite disputing this for months, my review was denied. I strongly urge others to use caution when seeking care here.

Medical malpractice towards myself and my family
Worst hospital I have ever been to in my life. Constantly rude staff, actual doctors who don't listen to their patients. Choose literally anywhere else the people make it a living nightmare, never once got better under their care just sought discharge so I could receive actual treatment and respect somewhere else. Do not come here

Pissed is a mild word for my anger
Mt friend has been at abbott 2 weeks for a broken leg. Surgery was canceled 3 times before it occurred and then with no prior notice it was happening so I didn't have even a chance to be there. I am my friend's power of attorney and I cannot get any information. When I call I am told someone will return my call but in 2 weeks and more than 6 times no one has returned a call. My friend was first scheduled to be moved to a nursing home near home but somehow, due to the changes of surgery we lost that option, now today, this morning, I found a bed at a nursing home close to us, they told me they were working with abbott to get my friend moved. Here, 10 hours later, no word either to my friend or me on why that hasn't been secured.

Abbott-Allina Health is absolutely horrible
In September 2024, my dad was admitted, and we repeatedly told them something wasn’t right -he had signs of an infection. But they didn’t listen. The next day, he ended up at Essentia Hospital, where they discovered he was septic from that same untreated infection. Fast forward to last week, and my dad was back at Abbott-Allina. He told the doctor he was struggling to breathe and suspected pneumonia. Again, the doctor dismissed him. Three days later, my dad passed away from complications of pneumonia, a blood clot, and a heart attack. If the doctors had just listened to him, he could still be here today. It's devastating to think that his life was cut short because no one took the time to truly hear what he was saying. A formal complaint will be submitted. Doctors need to learn to listen to their patients. I would hate for more people to have to go through this and have a loved one die because doctors don’t listen.

This is a second rate hospital
All the equipment, furniture, nearly everything appeared to be at least 30 years old. My room had stains on the tile and in the bathroom. My nurse ignored my request for a nighttime sleeping aide and ignored my inquiry about going home, even though my surgeon said it was a possibility. He just brushed me off, didn’t do any follow up and then forgot to put down my requests for meds. So of course when night came I couldn’t sleep. Not that I could have, with the confused old man next door to me yelling all night or my nurses coming in every hour, all night long, for meds or vitals. Then to top it off, my blood bag wasn’t properly attached or my bandage wasn’t properly applied because I woke up in a puddle of my own blood. Then when my nurse came to help me, she had to go help the confused man next door. I know it may sound insensitive, but if a patient is loud do to being confused and scared, it’s the hospital’s job to help him feel safe and provide him more support so he’s not yelling every time he wakes up. I honestly didn’t feel safe, since I don’t know what this upset sounding gentleman is capable of when I’m stuck in a bed with an IV and a new hole in my side. So I got to sit on my bed all night long waiting for my doctor to arrive in the morning, so he could discharge me, even though I should’ve been discharged the day before. If I had gone home I could’ve had a restful nights sleep in my own bed, allowing me to actually starting to get healthy, rather than go through a hellish night without a wink of sleep. Do not use this hospital if you have any other choice. They seem short staffed and the building is incredibly outdated. If I could do zero stars I would.

I will never go to any Abbott hospitals ever again
I was transfered here for an emergency appendectomy from another Abbott hospital. Immediately after waking up from surgery, nurses were incredibly rude. I'm a disabled veteran who has multiple physical disabilities. The second I woke up from surgery, the nurses were saying I needed to stand up so I could get out of the hospital already. I tried to explain that I was in tremendous pain from the surgery and that my physical disabilities limited my mobility, but they just said that I'm not a 90 year old woman so I have no reason to complain. They yelled at me to get off the phone with my husband, who I was trying to give directions to come pick me up. I told them that if they didn't calm down and help me out, that I'd need to have my husband help me instead. They said they wouldn't let him in. Within 15 minutes of waking up from surgery, and while still in pain, and without ever talking to a doctor, they wheeled me out the door. I had no follow up appointments or phone calls or anything. I ended up in the ER that same night (although I went to a different hospital thankfully) because of the amount of pain I was in.I suggest you don't if you value your health and care.

Highly do not recommend
All the care coordination is on me, who like most, have never been in this situation before. If I am ever in an unfortunate circumstance in the future, this is the last place I would go. Allina is unsafe, unreliable, uneducated on the front line and non responsive on concerns. I urge you to seek care elsewhere. I will be seeking legal action at this point, they are a danger to healthcare. Zero respect for time or communication. I am a current patient with an infection. The overnight staff both nights say someone will be right there, but then an hour or two hours go by and nothing, no further communication. Highly do not recommend and would pick up and go elsewhere if I could. This appalling. They sent me home with inadequate supplies to get me to my follow up appointment next week. They returned my call and told me to call the number for 3M on my wound vac. I honestly cannot believe that they do not own the experience and want me (recovering for flesh eating infection) to play phone tag with med supply companies. This is just an extension of a terrible, confusing and contradictory interaction. Do not go here.

I'll probably get a giant bill too just for waiting
Went to the ER with blinding kidney stone pain. Was forced to wait over two and a half hours in a room full of sick people with the most unbearable pain imaginable. The nurse told me people had been there for over four hours before me. Eventually I was forced to leave and suffer at home because I could not stand waiting any longer. There are clearly staffing issues that this hospital is not addressing.
