I feel like I've been swindled!
Summa contacted me to tell me it was time for my annual Medicare Wellness Exam. I now discover that they were wrong, several months early for the exam, and Medicare refused to pay it leaving me stuck with the bill! Such rank incompetence leaves me questioning everything about Summa including their medical competence.

The extra facility fee feels insane and predatory
The extra facility fee on top of the regular visit and service charge for seeing providers feels insane and predatory. The private equity takeover and push for new cash grabs is obvious. They even phased out telehealth options so they can always charge the extra facility fee, literally holding patients hostage to these extra fees. Thanks to hatco for ruining a major Akron health system.

Terrible service here
Came in dealing with vomiting and stomach pain, got treated and been stuck here for 3 hours. I felt much better after the 1st hour after being treated but got stuck here for 3-4 hours after. Pushed the call button many times but still waiting and waiting. Doctors are very rude and everyone acts like they don’t want to help me.

Only care about billing my insurance for the money
I have been going there for 5 months for Stage 4 prostate cancer and had unnecessary procedures done, excessive office visits where nothing was accomplished, and they refuse to give me pain pills that I need. If you need a TURP Procedure done, don't get it there, they left a lot of tissue in my prostate that should have been removed completely, and I have difficulty pissing the tissue out that's causing excruciating pain. I was being treated like I was a cash register to them. I cancelled all my appointments to seek treatment elsewhere. I'll never go back there again

Patient care has gone way down hill
My name is Susan You took care of my mom at Summa. Her name is Mae. I’ve been trying to reach you by calling the hospital but that doesn’t seem to work, First of all why wasn’t she referred to a cardiologist? Why wasn’t she sent home with supplemental oxygen? And why was there a social worker named Nancy trying to basically push my mom out the door?? They were going to help her get a shower, but was told by Nancy that she can do that at home. Rude. She can’t take a shower because she is too short of breath. I called her Doctor, and was told by the nurse that she would need to be seen before she could get any oxygen at home. As you know she has a fractured vertebrae and has difficulty getting in the car. They said for her to go back to the hospital, why?? What is going to be done there?? She was shoved out the door in the first place. I’m not impressed at all. I don’t know what needs to happen here, but I think maybe her Dr could come up with a plan. Dr is very dismissive of my mom. None of this is ok.

The doctors failed to do the right tests
Tried going here. Had to go to a different clinic. Tried contacting the grievance office that basically said we'll you received care so that's what's important. Never mind the fact i had to go to a different clinic cause your doctors are i competent.

I probably will never choose them again
I wish there was other options for my family then summa er. I took my dad there, who was very sick. He arrived by ambulance. We were in the ER for almost 10 hours. I only knew his results from labs because I looked at mychart. Saw the dr twice. They also missed a crucial wound because they never checked his feet- he is a diabetic, you think that would be first. I always feel like you send your loved on there to die. Especially if you aren't there to advocate for them.

Do not bring your child here to be born
Terrible place from start to finish and still stuck here cause our doctor said we could leave today after being here 4 days…. Nope nurse gets to say we are staying. Our traumatic experience on my Akron city labor and delivery.

I have issued a complaint with the Nurse Manager there
If I could give this a zero rating I would. My husband has been a patient at Summa off and on for the past couple of months due to a broken hip which was repaired but didn't take so he had to have a hip replacement. His surgeon was amazing and the after care was so-so. He had a seizure this past Saturday which he's never had so I took him to Barberton Hospital where he was eventually transported to Akron City Hospital. The seizure was attributed to too much retained urine in his bladder. Understandably he was somewhat confused following the seizure but was treated like a child at City. His one nurse, Alex, was forthcoming and kind. For the past 2 days he had the reincarnation of Nurse Ratched from Cuckoo's Nest. I wouldn't have believed it if I didn't hear it for myself but she was not only unbending but condescending. We will be switching to another hospital system as, while the doctors here are capable, few others seem to be.

Why don't all systems sync up in a hospital of this size?
My friend Mark had a radiology exam scheduled for today It was confirmed He was checked in on the My Chart app It showed that and we had gone through the pre check We arrived on time actually a little early 12 minutes or so They had never heard of him at radiology and check They did not show the CT scan he had on Tuesday of this week The last thing they show is from last June and that was appointments he had to missed or so they said. Mark had not even been dealing with Summa then! After I showed the lady at the desk the MyChart entry she eventually got the radiology department to do the test but they were going to just send us home originally and blame us for the situation.
