Overall a not great experience
Why is the ER like this??? Me and my family landed in Charlotte from Punta Cana. We couldn’t make it home bc we were so sick. Nausea, vomiting, severe watery diarrhea, fever, body aches, severe chills. I am a nurse and advocated for myself and for decent care. I told them what I wanted bc I knew what I needed. An IV, Fluids, labs, Nausea meds, Pain meds, stool studies. They threw in an abdominal CT too. Great. Felt semi decent after all that. They said I didn’t need stool studies. That it was just travelers diarrhea. My husband had to take our daughter over to the Peds side for the same symptoms. She was treated great over there. They did stool studies, IV fluids, meds. She felt better but not great. By the end I had two other kids who were exhausted as it was 3:45am. Mind you we got there at 9 pm. They said they would let us know the results of the stool studies for my daughter. Fabulous. Because whatever she has, my husband and I have too. And since my doc thought I didn’t need those stool studies imma need answers. My husband and I trade off and he goes to the adult side and I go to the Peds side after I was d/c. He is treated the exact opposite of me. He waits forever. He wasn’t even going to be offered an IV. No Nausea meds. No pain meds. Back to waiting room just in time for the 4 am crazies. He said doctor saw him a total of 3 minutes. He’s in excruciating pain from the stomach cramps and water is coming out of his butthole. Oftentimes he can’t hold it. We all can’t. We’re miserable. Peds doc calls my husband to let him know of stool results. CHOLERA, SALMONELLA, E COLI! EFFING CHOLERA!!!!! He went to his doctor and told him and asked for something. Doc didn’t seem that concerned. Gave him one dose of azithromycin and gave paper script. D/c from ER with cholera with no IV fluids, no meds, no care given. Oh and they didn’t do labs on him to check his electrolytes. They did me and I needed potassium bc of vomiting so much.

This was my first and last time having a procedure done at this hospital
It was a complete mess. The hospital was filthy and the surgical team wheeled me in the room and discovered they didn’t have materials they needed for the surgery so the doctor ended up leaving the surgery room to go find the materials.Once I was discharged the poor nurse called for a wheelchair for 40 minutes and it kept getting canceled leaving me waiting. The nurses were nice but the admin staff and the condition of the hospital made me never want to go there again.

When I say the worse I mean it from start to finish
They sent me home with 2 fractures after the emergency room dr said & did a CT scan and 2 X-rays… I went to atrium and got the best care ever! I even called the Administrator’s office and left 2 messages with no call back. Everyone there is unprofessional and nonchalant about the care and concern for patient health. Additionally informed via a survey of the same… no one there cares and it is absolutely sad!

Hire someone to answer the phone!!!
No one answers the phone. Have been trying for 7 hours to get information on my sister - just kept on hold. Thirty minutes, hang up call back - same scenario. People in beds everywhere in the hallways. Sister has been there for 2.5 days and is still not in a room.

Misdiagnosed my wife’s gestational diabetes
Had her in active labor for 15+ hours with a 10 pound baby at 8 months. They kept our baby in the Nicu for a month lying to us about what was going on in order to cover up their mistakes. We had nurses try to convince my wife not to breast-feed. We caught them not even trying to feed him with a bottle but opting to just tube feed. Nurses would speak negatively about my wife and baby during the middle of the night when they thought I was sleeping next to him.

Horrific experience
Completely lost my trust for doctors. Leaving Novant for Atrium in hopes to build back trust in the healthcare system.

Shameful and pathetic
It is absolutely pathetic for the amount of money hospitals charge for everything that this hospital lets my Step Father who is in the heart section of the hospital lay there after he called 45 minutes ago for help to go to the bathroom which is the way they want him to do but no one ever came and he pooped all over himself. NO EXCUSE for this. All those sign about excellent care is our priority and no one can even keep a patient from using the bathroom on themselves after waiting for 45 minutes!

Most disgusting, careless, awful care I’ve ever endured in my life
I had to stay here due to a surgical “women’s health” procedure. The nurses were an embarrassment to the profession, the CNAs were unprofessional and the lab/phlebotomy team needs to be completely replaced with phlebotomists with appropriate training. If I ever need medical in the future, I will be sure to return to my hometown (DC Metro Area).

Unacceptable and a major violation off HIPPA
I am very displeased with Marilyn the respiratory therapist here. she decided it was ok to call up a former cowork and divolge patient information, all because she recognized the last name of her patient. The former coworker she called happened to be the ex husband of her patient. Instead of Marilyn asking her patient if it was ok to call the former coworker, she took it upon herself to call his private cell and give all her patients personal info. The patient did make a report but I do hope they take corrective action so Marilyn doesn't do this to another pt.
