Montefiore’s corporate billing practices uses outrageous price gouging
Before responding with a generic 'your insurance plan changed for the new year' excuse: I was fully aware that my insurance was changing and that I had a deductible to meet. However, under my previous insurance, my 20% co-insurance was $18, meaning the actual total cost of a session was around $90. Based on that baseline, it is reasonable to expect the deductible phase to reflect those rates. Instead, Montefiore billed an astronomical $600 to $800 per session under the new insurance plan for routine, post-surgery physical therapy where I was essentially doing basic leg lifts and squats on my own—including charging $60+ just to put a cold ice pack on my knee. There was zero upfront transparency about this massive spike in corporate contract rates. By the time a physical statement was generated, thousands of dollars in debt had already accumulated. I spent a massive amount of exhausting energy trying to formally dispute and appeal these predatory charges, only to receive robotic answers that 'everything matches.'The local workers are great, but Montefiore's corporate administrative billing uses outrageous price gouging that leaves patients blindsided and completely unprotected.

Forced to leave as soon a i woke up from my operation!!
I had two major operations done. I was in severe pain and she told me i had to leave the hospital that night! Sat by my bed and told me to continue to make calls to see who could pick me up. She was a horrible nurse, and I hope she gets fired. Then by the time I found somebody to pick me up from the hospital, it was late at night and I wasn’t able to get my pain medicine from the pharmacy so I had to leave the hospital in severe pain and the Tylenol didn’t work because those operations were major. I had a hernia surgery on my abdomen and I also had a tummy tuck at the same time. I was in severe pain and I had to go home like that. I did ask her if I could just stay till the next morning and she said there’s not enough space we have other people coming in from major operations that need this room. That’s what she said.

I am extremely disappointed with how my concerns were handled
I contacted this organization after one of its employees, Sharonda Gantt, used a photograph of my deceased stillborn daughter on Facebook without my permission. I provided supporting documentation and screenshots because I believed this matter deserved serious attention. As a grieving parent, this experience has been incredibly painful. My daughter was an innocent baby, and seeing her image used in this manner has reopened an unimaginable loss. Although I reported the content to Facebook, the photograph remains online. I expected a healthcare organization to carefully review concerns involving conduct that I believe lacks compassion, empathy, and respect. I hope this organization continues to review matters of this nature and upholds the professional standards and values that patients and families expect from those who represent it.

This place is putting patients at risk of getting sicker, and possibly dying
Horrible, overcrowded to the max over 50 patients, dirty conditions, long wait times, under staff, my mom waited 20 hrs waiting in ER for a bed on cardiac floor. Doctors assigned rarely came by unless you went to look for them, they kept telling me they were going to call upstairs to expedite a bed for her, but absolutely nothing was done. Go to Lenox Hill Hospital. I regret bringing my mom here. Her clinic doctors are from Montefiore Hospital and are great, but the ER is extremely unsafe. Too many patients in hallways. I had to assist my mom to urinate on bedpan because by the time her nurse would come, it would be too late. Something has to be done, I will never ever return.

DONT GO HERE
The nurse never collected my urine before the MRI Scan and the Emergency department is filled with travel nurses that they hire that do not know what they’re doing. Find out that Monty gave me a hematoma on my hand by removing my IV. Do not go here they don’t know what they’re doing. When Dr. Pearlman felt that he no longer wanted to treat my pain, he closed the curtains on me and then sent me over to Psych because I Called and reported him to the state of New York. If this is how they retaliated on my hand all because I called the state on them, be careful.

Avoid these people like the plague!
These people are absolutely the worst medical service I have ever used. I went for PT at one of their subsidiaries in New Paltz NY, and was assured that I was in-network for care. I paid my standard co-pay, yet I still received a further bill. Why? It turns out they had submitted the claim with the wrong name (Montefiore, not Access PT, the provider), which is out of network. I have documented proof that Access are in network - they (Access PT) even agree with me themselves! For the last 6 months, despite calls, emails and even the help of Access PT, Montefiore REFUSE to alter the claims and insist I owe them money, They don't respond to emails, the billing associates are rude and unhelpful (they basically know nothing) and are completely inflexible on this. I am still fighting with them after 6 months.

STAY AWAY FROM ANYTHING MONTEFIORE OWNED
I am in utter disbelief behind the incompetence, and negligence that this hospital in-poses on its patients. Don't even try to contact the Patient Advocate, because they obviously don't exist. I am unable to talk to anyone at the hospital about the negligence and am now going to be filing a report with the department of health and a lawsuit. Please if you love your life, stay away from Montefiore
