I do not see myself coming to this hospital again
I came in at midnight and didn't end up leaving till 12pm the next day. Why? Staff forgot I was waiting in the waiting room. Sat the entire evening waiting to be called back, working through a fever and coughing fits. Honestly I can't remember most of the past night because I was in so much pain and exhausted. Had to ask on three separate occasions why I wasn't seen. Only on the third did I eventually get taken back, given ibuprofen, had tests done, and given an inhaler and sent home. If it weren't for my husband being there with me the last 4 hours, I think I actually would have ripped the IV out and walked out.

UPMC East will kick you out before you're ready to be discharged
This happened to an elderly family member just because it needs bed space, and then within days, you'll be back in the hospital, for a longer, more expensive stay. Concerns fall on deaf ears. When my family member was in the hospital, I had to search for a nurse to ask questions even though three were sitting in the hallway around a computer, eating lollipops and laughing. I said, excuse me but was ignored. Families are left to navigate after-hospital care alone even after UPMC promises assistance. Unfortunately, we're stuck with UPMC because it has a monopoly in Pennsylvania, but the fact is our country doesn't care about elderly people and it shows in the healthcare system.

Careless and bad moody nurse and tech....hope never have to go there again.

go somewhere else
As far a stay at hospital - go somewhere else! Room was in ER - had to sleep on ER bed no private bathroom. Did not get any food until the 3 days into stay. Had to buzz nurses at least 3. To 6 times just to get a drink. Stay away! I will give surgeon 5 star!
