My experience in the Emergency room was horrible
From the moment I walked into the door and went to check in it seemed to be an inconvenience to the man that was out there to do so. No greeting whatsoever. Going to see the triage nurse was not a pleasant experience she did not speak I sat down in the chair she began to ask me what was wrong I told her. She put the cuff on my arm to take my blood pressure. The blood pressure machine tried to take my blood pressure 3 to 4 times as she just looked at my arm and hand turn red and shrinking up from the blood pressure machine continuously trying to take my blood pressure. Only when I asked her is this normal did she say what do you want me to take it on the other arm? She then she placed the cup on the other arm it went through a couple of cycles of trying to take my blood pressure finally getting it she told me what time but that was normal. She took me back to Room 11 where she told me I would have to be hooked up to a EKG machine no bedside manner whatsoever. She then left out of the room and told me a doctor would be there to see me. The nurse Mike came in horrible bedside manner didn't seem to really want to deal with me. No pleasantries no hello how are you doing just what's the issue. The doctor came in and he did greet me and informed me of the process. The nurse Mike came to take blood, give medication, testing, after doing so walking out without closing the door. After the doctor gave me my orders Mike came back in to give me a pill before being discharged. Mike told me that I could get dressed mind you I will still hooked up to the EKG machine I asked if he was going to disconnect the machine so that I could get dressed he told me no that I in fact could do it I had to take all the little pieces off of to put it back across the machine I had to take the tabs off which wasn't an issue. I will definitely never go to Shelby County Emergency Department ever again

Most of the doctors including Dr. Tubbs were very judgemental of me & tried to act like I have a drug or alcohol problem when I do neither one. Have had to go several times because of stomach issues & chest pains & never want to take me seriously. I was in so much pain I couldn’t talk & couldn’t stop throwing up and they just acted annoyed & kept asking questions then turned my words around in my chart. Didn’t send me home with even any nausea med & left worse off than I came. Tubbs was very unprofessional in the things he wrote in my notes sounding scornful & he has no compassion

Please go to a different hospital if possible
Please NEVER go here if you can help it, it’s a horrible hospital. Nobody there give a crap about anyone’s well being and only tries to hurry and get you out to benefit themselves. They have misdiagnosed several people in my family including myself and some having life threatening complications.

I could not call my dad's room
My dad went there as a patient. I could not call his room and when I call the nurses station to go and help him with his cellphone they wouldn't do it so I didn't hear from my dad until he got back to the nursing home where he lives. I stressed to the staff I just wanted to talk to my dad and I live in TN but that didn't make any difference.

They charged me for waiting without treatment
I had fallen off my horse and came here to seek medical attention, the staff are just horrible, no care for their patients, nearly all of them are on their phones. They put me in a room and never even came to check on me for a whole HOUR. I told them i wanted to leave and signed the form to go, I get a call a week later saying I owe them $940. Mind you, never got any kind of treatment just got put in a room.

Take hours to answer a patient calls for help
I was in the area visiting my sick mom at this very hospital when my appendix had to be removed emergency. I would never ever ever recommend sending anyone you love to this place. If you do have to send them. Make sure you have a person to stay with patient and document yarn advocate for your loved ones. The nurses and staff don’t care. The nurses withhold medicine if they don’t feel you are in need even after surgery. I have waited hours to even get a tech to check on me directly after surgery. Rooms never cleaned never been more humiliated as a human I’ve had to make calls to patient advocate and would be ignored.
