People do not deserve this
Had a surgery and doctor did not follow up on why I couldn't breath afterwards. His partner dismissed me home sick when I was throwing up, having a fever and coughing. Later that night we had to search for an ER three hours away where we lived and no one would treat us. We drove back to St David's where the ER was very rude. I was crying from pain in my lungs which they assumed was an anxiety attack and told me to stop crying or they'd stop treating me and send me home. We reported it and the doctor told them I was a difficult patient. I collapsed shaking in CT unable to breathe or exhale and still pushed me back to my room doing nothing about the shaking or wheezing. It took them forever to get a breathing mask when the nurse realized. They discovered I had blood clots in my lungs from the test. Upstairs the doctor rarely communicated with me. My first nurse was awesome and made me feel safe. Her replacement however never listened to my fears or concerns. She shut my oxygen off and I had a seizure. Instead of responding to the call my nurse waited. After the seizure she still continued to cut my oxygen off when I panicked telling her I couldnt breathe and insisted I walk. She wasn't honest with my family when they came and told them it had been no big deal or the night nurse. I had so much anxiety when she left I could not trust the respiratory team or my night nurse to sleep. In the morning it was the same nurse and the doctor would not listen to my telling her I had a seizure. She said I was fine to go home even tho I still had issues, gave me no referrals for outpatient care or doctors, no meds for coughing, and told me if I needed anything I could see a psychiatrist. The people who were kind to me and my family were my night tech and the tech who said goodbye.

I wasted my time, blood and am very mad about this
I went in for bloodwork, I brought the orders with me, including drs. names. The orders were typed in once at the reception area (45 minute wait), then AGAIN in the blood lab. Drs. NEVER got the results b/c the Drs. weren't "in your system", even after being added TWICE. I called the lab, gave them Drs. names and fax numbers (again), they then said they faxed them. Drs. STILL didn't get them. Lab faxed them again, same thing. Additionally, a SWID test was sent out for me. NO ONE told me or my Dr. that it couldn't be processed, b/c my Dr. wasn't registered. I had to CALL MYSELF to find this out. Please figure out a better system that is streamlined, and where these things are communicated properly and accurately.

I am not able to give negative stars, so I will give 1 star
This hospital is a mess. Beginning with the ER triage where we are literally sitting right next to each other with no privacy and nurses snapping at people to mind their own business. I thought things would get better once in a room, but I was wrong. Asked for pain meds over and over and it took hours to get said meds. Nurses kept mentioning that I was diabetic, yet I am not. The motto for this hospital is "I'll be right back". Right back means hours later. Meds were never on time. After not being able to shower, due to my condition, I asked for a sponge bath. I ended up doing that myself. The nurse did try to wash my hair. I say try because crazy as it is, she didn't actually wash it correctly and left a great amount of conditioner stuck in it. I was told 3 days in a row that I was going home. There was a lot of "someone should have told you" throughout the stay. "Someone should have told you that you would be here another night." "Someone should have explained why they were giving you a shot in your stomach." "Someone should have told you that the monitors will go off nonstop due to meds running out." I get that the nurses are busy, but ghosting your patients is awful! My saving grace was that my daughter was with me the whole time. If she hadn't, I would have had to have a coming to meeting with my nurses because they weren't all that helpful. Friendly, yes! Helpful, no! Since I was a fall risk, which they didn't put the bracelet on me until day 3 or 4, I wasn't allowed to just get up and use the restroom. I had to depend on my daughter to get me to the restroom and back because pushing the call light doesn't mean anything.

Trying to reach someone was long and difficult
Husband just got discharged and we had some issues and needed help and tried to call and speak with a case manager. The prompts and choices on the phone did not take you anywhere that I needed. I had to call the ER dept to be forwarded to the right dept, but was not able to get the help we needed. Discharge papers do not give you the number to contact if you need help. The discharge process did not make sense to be sent to another dept, instead it should be done on the floor and nurse where patient was cared for.

I don't appreciate being lied to or misled
Our child was delivered here, but we were still deciding on a name. The birth certificate office told us we had 45 minutes to decide the name or we would be required to submit a change of name request social security when in fact Texas hospitals have up to 5 days to do so. I called the nurse and complained and in fact we did have more than 45 minutes to make a decision.

They are more about making a dollar
If you have serious issues please don't visit this hospital. Better of at Seton. Most staff are very untrained. If you value your health and want to live. Please go somewhere else.

My E.R. experience was absolutely horrible
I had to go to the E.R. at St. David's North Austin Medical Center on April 12th. I fell down cement stairs. I damaged my ankles, both knee caps, and my elbows. I had swelling in my ankles, knees, and elbows, multiple bleeding abrasions, and many bruises. After the nurse checked my blood pressure, I noticed that there were long black hairs on the sheets covering my exam table. I don't have black hair. The nurse didn't clean my abrasions or bring ice packs to relieve the swelling. The doctor checked on me before the X-rays were taken but tried to discharge me before reviewing the X-ray results and giving me her medical advice. The doctor finally came to see me. She recommended that I use crutches. However, I had to demand crutches from the nurse before discharge. The nurse didn't know how to correctly adjust the crutches or show me how to correctly use the crutches. I also asked the doctor for a more detailed Return to Work note, but she refused to do it. She walked out of the room while I was trying to explain the information that my employer wants in the comments section of the Return to Work note. Why am I working hard to pay for Blue Cross Blue Shield health coverage if all I am going to get is incompetence, crappy service, and dirty bed linens? If you have a medical emergency and need to go to the E.R., do NOT come to this one. There were hardly any patients in this E.R. while I was there. Now I know why.

Go to a public restroom you will receive better treatment and care
Worst hospital ever !!! they have a discharge lounge that is the absolute worst Idea anybody should have to experience what a joke .. I was in icu for several days this was good once I was released to a regular room the nightmare began. I have never felt like I mattered so very little if you need to medical care I would recommend Seton.....st davids north was not a place I will ever return even if I were near death would I return WORST EXPERIENCE EVER discharge lounge what a joke you should sit in that room and observe what a patient experience is like I feel getting thrown out of a car traveling down a highway would have been better than this I took a video of the room. St davids north lock the doors to your discharge lounge or change the name to prison release. This room and method of releasing a patient is the worst Idea ever I did not recieve my discharge orders until I was in my sons car double parked in circle drive leaving the hospital I hated giving you 1 star because you don't deserve it....

Dischared him with multiple fractures in his wrist and a fractured rib
My husband went to the ER on December 21,2024 after a fall on the bathroom floor and landing on his right side and hitting his right wrist on the bathtub. After being put in a room in the ER only the nurse came in and did vitals and assessment. Dr. David Hanscom was the attending that evening and never came in to examine or treat. X-rays were ordered and we were told everything was fine and he was being discharged. After suffering for two months with severe pain he found there were multiple fractures in his wrist and a fractured rib. This should have never happened this way. If he was treated properly at the time he would have been well by now instead he continues with pain and discomfort and not knowing how long it will take for him to recover and heal

Place use to be great but now it awful
Doctors use to care and take time to treat patience and nurses knew what they were doing now doctors are barely there and the nurses don't know how to properly do anything. I've had the best care at this hospital but now it is the worst care.
