A Frustrated Patient TriStar Summit Medical Center
I recently had a disappointing experience at Summit Medical Center, where I underwent a biopsy nearly three weeks ago. The hospital's communication and guidance were lacking, and I was forced to listen to a repetitive script explaining the delay. As a former nurse, I was surprised by the subpar care, which would not have been acceptable in my own practice. Despite submitting a review, I have not received a response, which is concerning given the link between patient feedback and Medicare reimbursement. My pathology results are still pending, and I hope to receive a care plan soon. The waiting game is difficult, and I hope that the hospital will prioritize patient care. I urge healthcare professionals to share their experiences and advocate for improvement.

Overall disappointed
Just recently had my first child here and to say I was disappointed with my experience is an understatement. Had a scheduled induction and the first day I was there I felt like my depending on the shift, my nurses hardly checked on me and my husband. I didn’t get clear communication about what was happening and what the next steps were until I called a nurse to ask. The day I actually delivered the nurses were better at giving me updates, but I felt like my labor could have been shorter and less painful if they broke my water earlier. Once my child was born it was like my husband and I never existed. I once again I wasn’t told what the next steps to get discharged were and when they would take my child to do something I never got an update on what they were doing to him and how it went. What I thought would be 2 day stay ended up being 4 days and I had to ask to be discharged because I had no update on when I was good to leave. On top of all of that, they mailed me my son’s birth certificate with the wrong date of birth. Overall disappointed in what was supposed to be one of the best life experiences into something I hope no one has to encounter.

Only if desperate would I go back
This hospital has started putting patients in chairs in hallways. This is the first time I've seen this. Maybe they are all doing that now, but there was no privacy. Everyone could hear each other and our personal private health information. Not even a curtain. This is the last ER I will return to. What is happening? Disappointing.

It took a week for my x-rays to get to my doctor
After many calls to Summit and calls to Radiology Alliance, it was determined the lab tech didn't do something and Radiology Alliance had not received my file. Why I was the one who had to find this information out frustrated me. I would have expected someone from Summit to show some initiative and do their job instead of me having to take considerable time to do it for them. This is the 2nd horrible experience with Tristar I've had. I'll be exclusively using Vandy moving forward.

Half naked pumping in the hallway in front of everyone for 10 hours
Absolutely horrendous care. I was never checked into a room (i understand they are busy this is not the issue) but i was forced to be top off, half naked pumping in the hallway in front of everyone for 10 hours. I had a newborn baby and was pumping every hour at this point. I was given absolutely nothing for any type of privacy. I came to the ER by myself in the middle of the night due to horrible stomach pain that had been going on for 24 hours. I thought it was gallstones as that is typical of women in my family after giving birth. I asked the doctor if it would be appropriate to do an ultrasound instead of CT scan for that reason. He agreed. However, the ultrasound came back negative and he discharged me with a stomach flu diagnosis even though i had never thrown up and was extremely constipated. When i was being discharged i told the nurse i am becoming worried it is appendicitis. She told me that the doctor was discharging me. I asked her word for word: “if this is appendicitis and i go home will i die?” She told me if it gets worse to come back in. Less than 24 hours later i was in emergency surgery at Vanderbilt for appendicitis. I never REFUSED a CT scan i simply asked if in his opinion an ultrasound would be okay and he said yes. He said my pain didn’t present as appendicitis so he agreed. I was then charged 4,000$ for a stomach flu diagnosis and being humiliated in the hallway. Absolutely disgusting. I can’t get in contact with anyone to talk about my bill or to talk through what happened. All the billing office will tell me is that i owe what i owe and it is what it is. I believe my billing is coded incorrectly and the billing staff just shut me down. Iv even spoken to a nurse advocate and the billing department told me “your nurse advocate or lawyer or whoever it is is wrong.” I would really really like to talk to somebody and get it figured out. Go literally anywhere else.

I wasted my time and money going there
Inattentive staff. Not one person looked at the part of my body that sent me to the ER. The most pleasant staff was the X-ray tech. The Dr was very informative but misleading. And I'm still in pain waiting for my Drs appointment.

It will always be a house of horrors
They can paint and remodel this place all they want, until they clean house with their staff, and leadership.

Nice people but their priorities is not lining up well
They are horrible when it comes to transitioning someone out the hospital and sending medications to the the right pharmacy. They was in a hurry for a provider to take a certain patient but dropped the ball when it came to the patient's meds.
