Staffing appears to be very compromised in a cardiac hospital
Call lights should not consistently take 30 minutes to an Hour in a stepdown surgery unit. PT has not been consistent better over the last week compared to the prior weeks. Speech therapy is almost non-existent let's call it a periodic speech evaluation not therapy.( NP states yeah they've had staffing issues for last 8 months in therapy) No clear goals or plan of care example " we can do an evaluation this week to see what our next steps are......middle of the following week the evaluation actually gets done meanwhile you stay in the hospital recieving way below average care and they bill insurance daily. I won't even get started on the lack of cleanliness in this hospital. 1st floor main areas phenomenal other areas is a roulette. 8th floor is definitely cleaner than 6th though just disgusting. Failed Discharge Planning or lack there of. Call light answered at 3:15 today stated I'm downstairs I'll let your nurse know I went and got what the patient requested at 4pm so another fail. Sitting here as of 5:45 pm waiting on the AMA discharge that was requested at 3:17pm. His pharmacy closes at 9pm we have a 2.5 hour drive.

This interaction made me uncomfortable enough to leave and seek care elsewhere
I had a disappointing experience with E.R doctor, Dr. Alexander Kelly during a recent hospital visit at Piedmont Atlanta hospital. I chose to drive almost an hour away (with tightness in my chest and shortness of breath) because of the previous ratings on Google about Piedmont. I came in with a serious medical concern and asked about the possibility of getting an ultrasound. When I questioned whether it might be helpful, Dr. Kelly became visibly irritated and his tone was dismissive and mildly aggressive. I understand that doctors have expertise, but patients also have the right to ask questions and be part of decisions about their care. Instead of explaining his reasoning in a respectful way, he shut me down for simply trying to understand my options.

I had surgery in that horrible place it was a nightmare
From the time I had pre testing the person that had to register me didn’t do the right thing and mess up the paper work the nurses where more worried about going for lunch the anesthesiologist that did the nerve block took a long time to get to me and when she did she was rough and show no compassion what so ever the assistant to the anesthesiologist a block of ice was more human who ever put the tube in my throat was an animal I can’t eat or drink they tore out a piece of the skin in my throat now I can’t eat or drink the only person that took good care of me with dignity and respect was my doctor was my doctor the rest of the people was a disgrace an embarrassment people that don’t deserve to be in that field but God and karma will take care of it and this will not be forgotten I will never go back to that hospital and will tell everyone I know my experience so they can tell others so people don’t trust their life or family to those monsters.

Took them 3 days to give her all her reg meds
Took my parent here for care..we interacted with 3 triage nurses..none asked for her medicine list. They violated HIPPA calling her full name out in the ER. They didnt tell anyone she was on a blood thinner and missed her dosage for 24 hours. Then only when I raised concerns to the charge nurse something was done once we were admitted it took them 3 days to give her all her meds. I used to Love this place.

I would never recommend this facility to ANYONE
Horrible, demeaning, disrespectful, abusive, condescending and just outright outrageous weird & unprofessional behavior exhibited by the recovery Charge Nurse Candice on floor 6A at the Marcus Tower....then once moved to floor 8 one of the male Nurse marked that he gave oxytocin to my mom when he only gave her Tylenol post op day 3 of open heart surgery...he told us that they only wanted her to take Tylenol to get her off the narcotics..MEANWHILE HE MARKED IN THE SYSTEM that he gave it to her WHICH IS ABUSE AND SHOULD BE GROUNDS FOR TERMINATION...keeping narcotics from an elderly open heart surgery patient (post op day 3 is CRUEL).reporting all of this to the state nursing board.

They don’t do their jobs correctly
I would never recommend this hospital at all to anyone. They have poor service and all nurses are rude and staff. I’m so disappointed on how my mother stay has been. They turn off call lights of just walking in the room with no help given. And the fact that they told my mother to use the bathroom on her self instead of assisting her to the bathroom. Filing a complaint doesn’t work because they don’t address the issues. Please do not seek care at this facility…

Please please dont go to this hospital alone
I had to go to Piedmont bc the surgeon I chose has privileges there. My doctors, therapists (PT, OT) etc. were excellent! The post-op nurses on the other hand were lackluster at best. After recovery, I was placed in my room for 2+ hours after surgery without being hooked up to IV or monitors. My husband, annoyed, pointed this out and the nurse said "oh, oooops" and hooked me up, finally. Please please dont go to this hospital alone if you are incapacitated. Make sure some is there to advocate for you. The daytime nursing staff is cold, non- responsive, rushed, and seemed understaffed. After I returned home, no one from the hospital followed-up to check on me.

My prayer is that no family ever has to experience what our family had to endure
My husband was taken to Piedmont Atlanta from Piedmont Newnan due to a pulmonary embolism and blood clots in lungs. Not going into all the details of lack of care and untruths. The biggest reason for this very negative rating is how we were treated as a family and how he was treated as a patient . I wish I could say that on December 21,2024 he passed away peacefully… but due to the fact that palliative care or hospice was not brought in he passed away struggling for his last breath… sweating because he couldn’t breath. with absolutely no help from the doctor!
