There is so much more to the story but this is enough
Room 4226 from 8-18-25 to 8-22-25. Techs and nurses being rude, not caring, not listening, literally went mia a couple times for hours and having other staff look for them, forgetting my medications multiple times completely, not helping me get in and out of a tiny bathroom with a walker and watching my mom help me (so small the walker wouldn’t fit in the bathroom I had to hop) not coming back with supplies they said they were bringing me or just never coming back at all. Nurses saying they have experience wrapping an amputated leg when clearly they don’t because they almost yanked me off the bed. Then getting mad when I tell them to stop and do it myself. My mom having to put new bedding on for me because I was sweating so much from my pain level and the techs just stood there watching! I had to fire a nurse because she thought it was ok to show up 2 hours and 20 minutes after my pain meds were due then say “it’s fine I’m here now everything is ok” to my mom when my mom asked where she was for 2 hours if her coworkers couldn’t find her. I wouldn’t of review but they sent me a text asking for a review so here it is. Yet they haven’t reached out to see how I am doing. Big surprise!

Disputing a charge on a bill since April 2025 with no answers
I’ve called several times following up on my dispute with NO answers. Always have to talk to customer service, who tells me they cannot see the review teams records and I’m not able to actually talk to a human from the review team to tell me about my dispute. It is now August with absolutely no progress. The most recent customer service representative I spoke to kept cutting me off mid sentence and putting me on hold when I was asking questions. Highly unprofessional.

DO NOT take your loved one to St Vincent if you want humane care for them
My 83 yr old 90 lb mom was confused. She was put in 4 point restraints for over 8 hours with no relief for meals or water and no call bell within reach. In fact of the 3 days she was there on the 3rd floor, staff didn't bother to order her dinner or lunch. Spoke with staff involved with ordering and maintaining 4 point restraints, charge nurse and physician both stated they were too busy......too many patients! IU North DOES NOT allow restraints. DO NOT go there if you want your loved one treated with dignity and kindness!!!!

They will rob you and then hide behind their bureaucracy
This hospital receives less than a 1 star due to their extreme disorganization and lack of accountability, which ended up costing me $1,000 -$1,300 more out of pocket than I would have had to pay if they could do their job. I needed my bill within 60-days for insurance and it took 7 months to get my bill. On day 59, they could not provide me a bill but someone finally gave me an estimate, but it was clear they were just telling me something to get me off the phone. By the time the actual bill arrived, the 60-day window had passed, leaving me stuck paying the full amount out of pocket. The bill was also higher than the estimate they had initially provided, making the situation even worse. Had they provided the bill in a timely manner, I could have saved $1,000–$1,300 by going through my insurance.

The hospital could use a deep clean and some repairs, walls, doors, chairs, etc
First of all the doctors are great. After that it goes down hill. The place is dirty and run down. No paper towels in the bathrooms sometimes no soap. I reported it and was handed a wash cloth to dry my hands. The floor in the patient room was sticky throughout the stay even after mopped. One nurse commented about it. Oh speaking of nurses most were terrible one or two good ones. Hopefully you have people with you or don’t have an emergency. It was common to wait 30 mins after pressing the call light. One nurse said when asking for pain medicine that my son would have to wait he’s not a priority. I understand he might not be but that’s the kind of bedside manner you get here. The bathroom in the patient room smelt like rotten sewage, again mentioned it and was told all bathrooms smell that way. I was told it’s not a hotel it’s a hospital. Yes, if it was a hotel I’d leave, hard to do at a hospital. But easy not to come back or recommend to others.

I want out of here so bad!
This has been sheer hell since my mother came in via ambulance after a hard fall that broke her hip. She finally got a room in the ICU... dear Lord are they awful!!! Have had 2 sweet nurses other than that, doctors, surgeons... all of them are dismissive, rude and will leave the patient in the room for hours being unattended to. They keep saying my mom can't swallow but give no explanation as to why she can't or what the he'll they're going to do about it! She hasn't eaten food for over a week! TOPPER: SHE WENT BACK FOR SURGERY. LEFT US IN WAITING ROOM FOR 4 HOURS AND NO ONE KNEW WHERE SHE WAS! HOW ON EARTH DO YOU LOSE A PATIENT?!!!

Never going again and btw that all bullshit took my good 5 hours without diagnosis or care
I went to st vincent ER last night with an acute lower abdominal pain.right form the beginning staff was rude the nurse and the assistant nurse who took my vitals said why you sounding like this I don't see tears in your eye (I was in sharp pain ) well I didn't say anything as I wanted to get checked she took me inside male nurse gave my a bottle for a urine sample I told him ill do later thn the doctor came she ordered my labs and all and put me on IV then they shift me to the smallest waiting room with the IV on. Benches were so small and hard you can't even sit there for long let alone lying down.nobody came to check me for good 2 hours and I was in bad pain I went them and told them my IV is finished and can you pls share with me my labs and diagnosis. DR said I don't see anything life threatening but let's go to CT Scan I said what for she said you might have something or might have nothing in between they were mocking the patients while sitting there and I heard them as the smallest cold room was right infront of the Dr and nurses station. I refused for CT as I was so tired and cold I told them i don't want anything let me go she gave me a pain killer and that's it she didn't even came to me to explain anything rather I was standing on the station and getting my paperwork. St Vincent's was my favorite they used to have a super kind staff now nothing is there no care no kindness nothing I am extremely disappointed with the mocking rude comments

As an employee I would never take another family member here again
I am an employee of Ascension St. Vincent. My mom had an accident and was taken as a trauma 1 to the ER. Scans were done and they told us they would get her pain medications. 6 HOURS later and NO medication. She was crying in pain and barely anyone came to check on her. After I constantly asked, they finally put an order in for pain medication. Almost 7 hours later!!!! What a joke!! As a trauma 1, scans should come in fast. Her scans took almost 5 hours to come back. Once they came back they wanted to do an MRI. She had to wait another 7 HOURS for an MRI and was not allowed to remove her C collar until results came back in. At this point the collar was on for 13 hours. This caused obvious pain and discomfort. Another negative encounter was when she had to use the restroom and wasn’t allowed to get up. I went to talk to a nurse to tell her she had to pee really bad. The nurse started talking to another employee and told a nearby nurse to “deal with this” while waving her hand in my direction. How unprofessional. I am disgusted! 0/10.
