Justice for Sungida Rashid
Following is a Letter March 7, 2024 sent by Senators Elizabeth Warren and Edward J. Markey to: "Dr. Ralph de la Torre Chairman and Chief Executive Officer Steward Health Care System. “You have run this hospital system for 14 years, and reportedly have had access to two private jets while owning two luxury yachts – enjoying “the most sophisticated sportfish boat ever built … [and] cruising the skies in one of the biggest and most luxurious private jets that money can buy.” Meanwhile, suppliers were unpaid, the system piled on debt, and patients in Steward hospitals, including a new mother, suffered because of inadequate care…You have kept your hospitals' financial condition in a black box, and you have kept us in the dark as well, defying state law and a court order in the process….This is deeply troubling behavior that appears to represent a years-long pattern. This is deeply troubling behavior that appears to represent a years-long pattern.” Is it criminal that when Steward Healthcare CEO take a compensation package while returning vitally needed medical supplies back to vendors because the hospital couldn't pay its bills? Sunjida Rashid's untimely death was not because of an act of medical negligence, it was murder resulting from extreme and wanton recklessness. And now Steward Healthcare has filed for bankruptcy. She died bc the embolism coil doctors needed to stop bleeding wasn’t available
Sungida Rashid recently died here after giving birth, because the hospital didn’t pay their bills and vital life-saving medical equipment was repossessed without the knowledge of doctors. They didn’t have the equipment they needed to save her life and she bled to death in front of them while they helplessly watched. Doctors are leaving the hospital because of this to work at hospitals where they don’t have to watch their patients bleed out because they weren’t told they didn’t have life saving equipment. The hospital has been financially struggling for some time now, and it’s only going to get worse. This story tells you everything you need to know about the kind of care you should expect at this hospital. If you’re pregnant, your life will be at risk at this hospital. Stay away.

Extremely unprofessional
The doctor and staff didn’t seem to know how to give a diagnosis at all.

UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISGUSTING BILLING
I have visited St. Elizabeth’s for over 10 years. I’ve had surgeries and other small procedures done there. The most recent one has been the absolute worst and I will never visit here again. Not only was I told that my procedure would be 100% covered by insurance during my registering phone call, they are now denying they have “any record of this” and I have now been stuck with a bill that’s over $2,000 because of the procedure and subsequent ER visits. Two ER visits after the procedure due to the doctor’s failure to successfully perform the procedure. I have been been stuck trying to contact billing and customer service for MONTHS and do not hear back. So unprofessional and digusting.

WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE SUCH A BAD TREATMENT ??
I had my baby here in March and I would not choose to deliver another child here due to a few reasons. My issue came with some of the nurses before after my baby was born. They have zero compassion! I had a very bad experience there! They treated me badly and poorly. They made me feel like I had some type of disease! They isolated me!! Till today I am suffering with EMOTIONAL DISTRESS. I have PTSD because of my experience there! I was pregnant and had HIGH BLOOD PRESSURE they kept me there for a MONTH!!! I couldn't have no visitors! I was in jail!!! Some of the nurses I had during my time there are pure EVIL. Patient advocate was a joke!! After my C-section I had no help. I am writing my reviews with tears. It's only been 5 months, I am still processing it. My baby got transferred, they didn't even care to wish us good luck, they didn't bother to talk to my husband as he was standing there like he was a ghost, we both cried and left. They IGNORED US COMPLETELY. Till today I am asking myself WHAT DID I DO TO DESERVE SUCH A BAD TREATMENT ?? If I had to choose a place to give birth and this Hospital was one of them,I would rather give birth at HOME. Very bad place!!!!!! DON'T GO THERE!
